The Batcave

<Kian>
Micro bats live inside the caves of the lava tubes. Micro bats are very small bats that eat insects.

In the evening we went to one of the lava tubes at sunset to see the bats.

On the trip out there, we saw lots of pretty faced wallabies (agile wallabies), roos and wallaroos.

We waited until sunset.

At the cave, just on sunset, we saw lots and lots of bats flying out of the lava tube to spend the night feeding.
Look carefully to see the black bats flying at Zeke & I.

It is estimated that 30,000-40,000 bats exit this lava tube every night.

The bats squeak as they fly so it is quite noisy.

It was really strange to have that many bats flying out past us.
It was like being in a bat storm!
